 New year new you We are not Retards

Hello Again Readers

As we go into this new year 2024

Forget about the past but we can't however the past teaches us about how to get stronger with the future the future is not so bleak as it seems 

We get so. Worried as a nation with what people say about us as people with disabilities my wife and I don't worry about words However words do hurt

History points out about The Word Retarded The R Word was stricken during United States President Obama Administration had a law put into place called Rosas Law

Rosas Law is about a girl named for the law that the family helped advocate for

The R word is not allowed to be put in medical paperwork 

Because Doctors and medical professionals are not allowed to use such a word to describe such a disability

Also other words are not supposed to be used to describe people 

Such as Handicapped

Feeble

Lunatic

Deaf Dumb and Blind

Chronic sick

And the lists go on

Words do hurt

So This post is aimed at Journalists or social workers or case managers who write reports

If I were you I would consider taking a class in learning how to write before offending someone

When you offend people with disabilities your offending someone who takes pride in themselves

We are people not just someone who has a challenged

Growing up with an Alcoholic Father and a mother who had mental challenges wasn't easy my father called me Retarded  all the time till he stopped drinking and other things

We must stop bad etiquette and bad treatment for All All Peoples Matter

All Abilities matter got to stop Hurting one another Becomes A new You in the New Year and walk away when someone says something you don't like don't become angry Stay positive and do positive things  to make a difference Advocate for what you believe in to make a solid Difference

We don't need Angry people we need more Advocates who are Abled with Many Abilities
